Fireye MEC120 Problems

Ran into a situation the other day that a Fireye MEC120 was working on a tester however went out in the field and would not get past PTFI.  Well, we narrowed the problem down when we saw it was giving out 47vac of the terminal instead of 120V.  The problem was on the Chassis but it was very odd to see it giving some voltage out at all.  Typically they work or they don't.  We found that the a bad fuse will allow for some voltage to be given out but not completely.  These are the ceramic fuses that you can't just look at and tell if they are bad.  In Fact many people don't realize that they are even there.

So keep this in mind before pulling all of you hair out or replacing the control prematurely.  If you have questions about this give Winstel Controls a call @ 513-251-4343 or visit www.winstelcontrols.com.

Happy Flame Safeguarding!

Extreme High Hazard Backflow Conditions

In a class the other day I was informed about a 3rd level of Hazard listed by ASSE for backflow prevention.  The 3rd level is Extreme High Hazard and includes systems that include Ethelyne Glycol, and Water Cooled Sewage Pumps.  When these situations arise many people will install a ASSE 1013 Reduced Pressure Backflow Preventer however it now calls for an AIR GAP!  Just an FYI for those of you that are into this kind of stuff.

If you need more information on this or anything having to do with Backflow Prevention and ASSE codes feel free to call Winstel Controls @ 513-251-4343 or visit www.winstelcontrols.com.
